Schools

There are three(3) Schools in this Polytechnic, namely, the School of Engineering, the School of Applied Sciences and Arts and the School of Business and Management Studies.

The school of Engineering was established in 1994 with three(3) academic departments; the Department of Building Technology and Civil Engineering, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Department of Building Technology and Civil Engineering was split into the autonomous departments in June 2006. Since 1994, the School has provided engineering and technological training to more than one thousand, seven hundred graduates(1,700). The worth of nation is in its human resource. Human resource development is dynamic and should be constantly reviewed.  The staff of the School of Engineering will continue to receive the necessary training needed to produce skilled graduates to accelerate the nation's technological advancement. The technologist or engineers complements the role of the engineer in improving the quality of life by assisting the engineer to test, maintain, develop and put engineering into test specimen, document and produce designs in series(mass) or on individual basis. The graduates of the school fulfill the middle manpower requirement of the economy.

 

Established in September 1999, the School of Applied Sciences and Arts is the youngest of the three schools in Cape Coast Polytechnic. The school is enriched with departments, which offer interrelated disciplines to provide student with practical skills for self-employment. The school comprises the Department of Liberal Studies,Department of Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science, Department of Tourism,Department of Hotel, Catering and Hospitality as well as Department of Fashion

 

The School of Business and Management Studies was also established in the 1992/1993 academic year to run tertiary programmes in Accountancy and Management Studies. Marketing Studies was introduced in the 1994/1995 academic year. The mission of the school is to provide career-focused managerial technocrats who are critically needed in all private and public establishments. The school also encourages the study and relevant research into the ever emerging business and vocational courses. Our curriculum ia highly vocation and technical based, as we want to deliver ready-made products to the world of industry. The business world's demands permeate the entire teaching agenda of the school.  The school has seventeen full-time teaching staff, whose work is supplemented by six supporting teaching staff from the School of Applied Sciences, three from the Central Administration and other part-time lecturers. There are plans for the introduction of the Bachelor of Technology programme as early as possible when resource requirements are met. There are three departments in this school namely, the Department of Accountancy Studies, Department of Marketing and Department Secretaryship and Management Studies.
